As I stood behind my camera capturing Lisa and Rob’s first dance as husband and wife, I realized I had never seen anyone make Lisa laugh quite as much as Rob had throughout the day. And, to me, laughter is one of the most important things you can have in a marriage. Because a rough day is always made better when you come home to someone who can make you laugh. In fact, any day is made better when you come home to someone who knows just the right thing to say to make you smile so hard that you laugh. And if you add all of those days together – the days where you’ve laughed – you’re left with a trail of happy years behind you in the end. And there is nothing more I can hope for my dear friend, Lisa, and her new husband, Rob.
Rob and Lisa went to the same Michigan high school but had lost touch in the years that followed. As fate would have it, they reconnected more than 400 miles away after both of their lives had brought them to Virginia. Their wedding day reflected the importance of both locations as they were surrounded by friends and family from each.
In an amazing wedding day surprise, Lisa’s friend and bridesmaid, Emily, walked into the bridal suite while Lisa was sure she would not be able to attend due to recently having her first baby. It was so fun to watch Lisa’s utter surprise and excitement even as her friends wafted her eyes so she wouldn’t cry.
Lisa, you are stunning.
The ceremony was at the gorgeous Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Old Town Alexandria. SO very charming.
And, seriously, check out all of this laughter going on…
And fun was had by all … led by the bride herself…

Rob and Lisa: How can I thank you enough for this honor? It was truly amazing for me to not only be in Virginia to see your wedding day unfold but to be a silent observer, capturing the emotions and details of your day. I truly hope you will treasure these photographs for decades and I hope there is no end in sight to the laughter you’ve both so clearly given each other. Hugs to you both! XO,
nicole
