At the beginning of each new year, I share my favorite photographs from the year gone by. And every year it feels like a celebration of memories that will forever linger for the families included in each photograph. In this way, 2020 is no different from any previous year.
In basically every other imaginable way, 2020 was like nothing we’ve seen before. But two things I know are true — and I felt in my core when I looked back at old photographs this year: first is that when we can finally all come together safely to celebrate weddings, babies, milestones, or our favorite small businesses, it will feel all the more rich for having waited so long to do so. And second is that photographs felt even more important this year. Never knowing when we could hug a loved one again, we clung to our memories and tried to document this life, however uncertain.
As a small business owner (of a business greatly affected by gathering limits and PPE) [which I am in FULL support of!], I learned that 2020 was all about adapting. I’m so thankful to everyone I did have the honor of working with last year for so gracefully adapting with me as we all navigated such uncertain days. Thanks to all of you who trusted me to safely document your lives this year. I hope you will look back on these photographs with special fondness for the gifts that wild year brought us.
With that, I leave you with my favorite photographs of 2020. You can see previous years’ favorites here: 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010.
