I stood among their guests listening as Cynthia’s brother recounted all of her amazing qualities. And I watched as the lights of the season reflected the warmth in their eyes. I met Philip and Cynthia on their wedding day, only a few hours earlier, and I was already so happy for both of them. They each had a gentle and friendly calmness about them that day, as if it was clearly the easiest decision they’d come to and the most perfect thing they could do that day. Their lives had brought them both separately to Trinidad and Tobago a few years earlier and they left with much more than they’d come with. They left with each other. And their wedding day was a celebration of the way life just seems to have a plan for everyone. And we all left that day with more than we had come with. We left with a little more warmth. Congratulations, Cynthia and Philip and merry Christmas!
Philip and Cynthia were married at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Okemos which I found out was a beautiful place gently tucked into the woods…a perfect setting for the occasion.
I loved this moment when Cynthia’s sister-in-law tried to fight back tears at how beautiful Cynthia looked.
And, Cynthia, you are radiant!
After the ceremony, we headed to downtown Lansing for some portraits near the Michigan State Capitol Building.
And then over to Troppo where Cynthia and Philip’s family and friends had gathered for the evening…
Philip & Cynthia: Thank for the great honor of letting me be there to capture your most special and intimate day. While we had only just met, you both felt like dear friends to me in the way I was so happy to watch you exchange your vows. I can see all the love in your eyes and it makes me so thrilled to capture it for you to enjoy for years to come. I wish you and your family all the best today and every day and hope your lives have many wonderful adventures still in store! Happy holidays!
